The Selection TV Pilot is Not Dead… Maybe

Late last week CW announced its Fall list of shows and fans of Keira Cass’ book, The Selection were disappointed to see that the pilot had not made the cut. But Deadline is reporting that fans shouldn’t give up hope just yet:

“CW is expected to take another stab at developing a TV series based on The Selection series of books by Kiera Cass. The network brass are very keen on having a show on the air that is thematically close to the blockbuster Hunger Games movie franchise the way the network’s hit Vampire Diaries is to Twilight.”

The wording is pretty curious: “take another stab” sounds like they filmed a pilot and it wasn’t good. That raises other questions like ‘Was it because they got the wrong actors?’, ‘Do they need a bigger budget?’ or ‘Is the storyline just not good enough for TV?’ Maybe fans should hold out for a movie adaptation instead. I’m sure there are non-fans of The Selection who will take a bite of the the Hunger Games comparison.

What do you think? Look out for a review of The Selection coming soon!
