Julianne Moore, known for her role as Sarah Palin in HBO’s Game Change, is in talks for the role of President Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. According to Deadline, Moore is likely to ink in a deal with Lionsgate soon.

Casting rumors concerning Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 have been floating around the internet over the past few months, but this is the strongest and most reliable rumor yet. In addition, it’s the first time we’re hearing about a particular actress for the role of Coin.

President Coin is introduced in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy in the third and final book, Mockingjay, when we learn that she was the president of the elusive District 13 and leads the rebellion against the Capitol. Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and Coin meet in District 13.

It is interesting to note that Moore starred opposite Woody Harrelson (Haymitch) in Game Change.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is set to be released November 21, 2014. Part 2 opens in theaters November 20, 2015. Both films will be directed by Francis Lawrence who also directed Catching Fire, due out in theatres November 22 of this year.

We learned recently that the second trailer for Catching Fire will debut at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Stars of the film will be there to present the new trailer in front of dedicate fans.

CW Releases Trailer for ‘Capture’ a ‘Hunger Games’ Styled Reality Show

It’s rare to see a book come to life beyond the movie screen. I’m sure when Suzanne Collins was writing The Hunger Games trilogy she was thinking about tv shows like Survivor and other reality tv shows in which the audience at home gets thrills from seeing the human interactions of people on their screens. Now CW has created a tv reality show named Capture that pits 12 teams against one another for 30 days. There is just one goal: Don’t get caught.

There won’t be any dead children, Capture is a tame version of The Hunger Games, a book by Suzanne Collins in which teams are pitted against one another and fight to the death. I think this turns Collins’ whole moral point upside down. Are we really so like the Capitol in her books that we need this show? Decide for yourself when you see the newly released trailer below:

“In this intense new wilderness competition, 12 teams of 2 will enter a fenced-in enclosure in the middle of the wild, where they must live for one month and compete against each other for scarce resources,” writes The CW in their official synopsis. “With $250,000 on the line, it’s a winner-take-all battle in which the teams must hunt each other down to survive.”

Descriptions of the show indicate that each week one of the teams will be “The Hunters” and it will be that particular team’s job to capture as many of the teams as possible. There will be tracking devices on each of the teams that will display the location of the team if they stop moving for more than three minutes.

Of course, this competition isn’t as intense as The Hunger Games because no one is getting killed. We will just have to see how the ratings will go.

Capture premieres July 31 on The CW.

‘Hunger Games’ Author Suzanne Collins Celebrates ‘Catching Fire’ Paperback With Video

To celebrate the release of the Catching Fire paperback, Scholastic has released a video from the author Suzanne Collins in which she talks her love of writing and reading. Check it out below!

‘Catching Fire’ Photo: Peeta and Effie Party at the Capitol

As we count down to Catching Fire, the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games sequel, we will get to see glimpses of the characters in great photos – and here is a new one.

This photo appears to be during the games inauguration party in the Capitol at President Snow’s residence. Effie (Elizabeth Banks) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) may be watching Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) sharing a dance.

Yesterday we told you that Suzanne Collins has announced that she has plans to write a new YA series. We can only hope it will be as exciting as The Hunger Games trilogy!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire debuts in theaters on November 22.

What do you think of the photo? I love Effie’s dress!

‘Hunger Games’ Author Suzanne Collins Plans New Teen Book Series

Suzanne+Collins+Premiere+Lionsgate+Hunger+SxDfj4lGyvPlSome exciting news for Hunger Games fans came at BookExpo America over the weekend, when Suzanne Collins, author of best selling series The Hunger Games revealed that she plans to return to YA fiction!

Unfortunately Collins wouldn’t give us any more details aside from revealing that her new book for teens will be a series. In the meantime she will be releasing a new book in September, Year of the Jungle which is a children’s books.

Collins told the BEA audience that she is currently helping with the scripts for Mockingjay Part 1 and Mockingjay Part 2, which will hit theaters in November 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Due to her current commitments we expect that Collins won’t be publishing the first book in this new series until 2014/2015.

Before The Hunger Games, Collins had written another series for teens that was lesser known titled The Underland Chronicles. Five books were published in the series between 2003 and 2007 before she moved on to her books following Katniss. So if you haven’t had a chance to read those and are eager for some more Suzanne Collins material go ahead and grab them from your local bookstore/library.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in theaters November 22.

Hunger Games ‘Catching Fire’ Movie Poster Revealed Via Instagram

Screen Shot 2013-05-14 at 11.14.55 AM

We told you last week that The Hunger Games Instagram account was preparing to reveal something special on May 14th. Well their surprise is here! Here is the newly debuted Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie poster. What do you think? It looks very much like a painting of a warrior. It certainly paints Katniss as a heroic war hero, and if you have read the books you will know that she is nothing if not a fighter.

If you look closely you can read the tagline in the upper middle of the poster: ““The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand.” The line comes straight from the pages of Suzanne Collins’ book Catching Fire as the Instagram account teased yesterday when they posted this picture:

What do you think of the movie poster? Are you excited to see Catching Fire when it hits theaters later this year on November 22nd?
