Julianne Moore, known for her role as Sarah Palin in HBO’s Game Change, is in talks for the role of President Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. According to Deadline, Moore is likely to ink in a deal with Lionsgate soon.

Casting rumors concerning Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 have been floating around the internet over the past few months, but this is the strongest and most reliable rumor yet. In addition, it’s the first time we’re hearing about a particular actress for the role of Coin.

President Coin is introduced in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy in the third and final book, Mockingjay, when we learn that she was the president of the elusive District 13 and leads the rebellion against the Capitol. Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and Coin meet in District 13.

It is interesting to note that Moore starred opposite Woody Harrelson (Haymitch) in Game Change.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is set to be released November 21, 2014. Part 2 opens in theaters November 20, 2015. Both films will be directed by Francis Lawrence who also directed Catching Fire, due out in theatres November 22 of this year.

We learned recently that the second trailer for Catching Fire will debut at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Stars of the film will be there to present the new trailer in front of dedicate fans.

Hunger Games ‘Catching Fire’ Movie Poster Revealed Via Instagram

Screen Shot 2013-05-14 at 11.14.55 AM

We told you last week that The Hunger Games Instagram account was preparing to reveal something special on May 14th. Well their surprise is here! Here is the newly debuted Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie poster. What do you think? It looks very much like a painting of a warrior. It certainly paints Katniss as a heroic war hero, and if you have read the books you will know that she is nothing if not a fighter.

If you look closely you can read the tagline in the upper middle of the poster: ““The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand.” The line comes straight from the pages of Suzanne Collins’ book Catching Fire as the Instagram account teased yesterday when they posted this picture:

Lionsgate Calls Itself ‘No. 1 studio’ For Young Adults + ‘Catching Fire’ Box Office Prediction

Lionsgate’s recent earnings call has revealed some interesting things about what the studio expects from Catching Fire and how they see themselves in the industry.

Lionsgate believes that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will pull in $400 million internationally, which is a big step up from The Hunger Games‘ $250 million international box office. They are basing this prediction off of what happened with the Twilight sequel, New Moon:

The former Summit chief also predicted “Catching Fire” will reach $400 million in foreign B.O., based partly on the performance of the second “Twilight,” which outgrossed the first in foreign markets by 50% (the first grossed $192 million overseas and the second took in $296 million). (Variety)

Lionsgate also called itself “the No. 1 studio in young adult franchises,” citing the success of recently acquired Summit/Twilight and of course The Hunger GamesEnder’s Game is also in the pipeline.

Somebody needs to do the math but I’m pretty sure Warner Brothers would still hold that title with Harry Potter alone, not to mention the various other ‘Young Adult’ franchises they’ve been a part of over the years.
